Student Activities

Drama Club

Drama provides our students with the skills of performing in front of an audience, rehearsing and memorizing lines, creating scenery, and working as a team. Students create their own costumes and develop the personality of the character they will portray. This club fosters a comprehensive learning experience from development to fruition on opening night.  Sponsors of this year’s Drama Club are TBA.

Chorus

The chorus performs a wide variety of choral music and holds a Winter and Spring Concert which is open to the public.  The Chorus members also get a chance to perform at other schools in the district and at various community events throughout the year.  All fourth and fifth-grade students are invited to join!  Mrs. Latka sponsors this year’s Choir.

Intramurals

Intramurals help get students up and active outside of normal school hours.  Sessions are conducted before and after school, depending on grade, and run year-round.  Mr. Robbins sponsors this year’s Intramural

Success Club

Kerkstra offers an after-school Response To Intervention (RTI) program to targeted students, which provides high-quality, research-based instruction matched to personal needs.  Students that qualify for this program are progress monitored regularly.  Sponsors this year’s Success Club is TBA.

Early Act

EarlyAct™ is a school-wide service club for elementary students from ages 5 to 13. It is sponsored by one of the local Rotary clubs in the township in which the school is located. The mission and operation of EarlyAct™ are closely linked to the ideals of Rotary and provide the foundation and natural succession into Interact.

EarlyAct™ provides young students the opportunity for gaining an increased awareness and knowledge of their community and the world. At a young age, all students can easily be encouraged to be caring and helpful. Their minds are open to recognize the dignity and worth of each individual which builds respect for others.

EarlyAct™ also engages students in character-building activities and prepares them for leadership roles to identify and carry out projects which benefit their school, local and global communities.  Mrs. Curtis and Mrs. Vargas are this year’s Early Act sponsors.
