Dr. Roth Hired As Next Superintendent

Dr. Roth will officially start her position on July 1 and is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction at Kirby School District 140 in Tinley Park. She replaces Dr. Paul McDermott who is leaving the district at the end of the 2020-2021 school year.

 

The selection of Dr. Roth is the result of a nationwide search conducted with the assistance of the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) which attracted more than 70 applicants. Dr. Roth was one of five people the school board interviewed for the position, which was then narrowed to three finalists. The Board has conducted a thorough candidate selection process using input from the community, teachers and staff, and administrators.

 

Board President Tina Banialis said, “The selection process was very competitive, with high quality candidates. Dr. Roth has proven success as an instructional and visionary leader, strong relationship-building skills, experience in building and sustaining effective teams, and a passion for making a positive difference in student outcomes. Her hard work in education with a student-centered focus will provide a strong foundation for her leadership and vision as our next superintendent.”

 

As a veteran educator with over 21 years in education, Dr. Roth began as a middle school teacher at Century Jr. High in Orland Park 135 for six years. She then served as an Administrator in Kirby School District 140 for the past 15 years. For the last five years, has served as the Director of Curriculum and the past two years as the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction.

 

Dr. Roth earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Francis, as well as a Master’s in Reading from St. Xavier University, and a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from St. Xavier University. In addition to her educational degrees, Dr. Roth also holds endorsements in English as a Second Language, Bilingual Director and Chief School Business Official Endorsement.
